: Several centuries ago, your galaxy experienced a catastrophic catastrophe that nearly tore it apart—an uncrossable ring of torn space fabric appeared in the center of the galaxy, beyond the reach of normal space engines.
Since this event, no one has succeeded in reaching the galaxy's central regions. All you know is that the event also spawned several impassable space rifts throughout the galaxy, and that a strange race of aliens, the Exotans, have appeared in the center. These aliens appear to have found a way to cross the torn space fabric, but so far, no one has succeeded in establishing contact with them.
There are also rumors of a strange new mineral called 'Avorion' that appeared in the center of the galaxy at the same time the Exotans arrived. The aliens appear to be using this material to build their ships.
Start as a normal player on the fringe and push toward the center in a galaxy that becomes more dangerous, but also more rewarding the closer you get to the galactic core. Avorion takes the sandbox aspects of games like X or Freelancer, adds cooperative multiplayer play, and lets you build your own ships. It features ships made from freely scalable, procedurally generated blocks that shatter into pieces when they collide in space battles. Minimum
