Information:
The game lets you experience the life of a legionnaire in the Roman army during the years of the Second Punic War and beyond. Climb the ranks and earn prestigious rewards, or just focus on returning home safely; it's up to you.
This is a unique single-player game with role-playing elements, extensive use of attribute and skill checks, a turn-based combat system that includes many variables (including morale, range, confined space, and high ground), and a touch of roguelike features. Among them is final death. If you're unfamiliar with the term, it means you'll have to start over if your character dies; but don't worry: the game is designed to be replayable, and you'll only see a small portion of it each round. Also, you'll be able to spend points on the next legionnaire based on the performance of your most successful characters.
Try the demo:
This game isn't like most role-playing games. Your character won't be successful at everything. Challenges must be carefully chosen based on the strengths and weaknesses of your legionnaire. Overall, the game isn't designed to put you in a situation where the odds are against you unless you stand up for it of your own volition. Occasionally, you may fail a mission and suffer a slight penalty to morale and/or opinions (a measure of your relationships with relevant in-game entities, such as your superiors and fellow soldiers). Don't despair when this happens; it's only a minor setback from which you can easily recover.
Above all, I highly recommend trying the demo before purchasing this game. It's here on Steam and free, and there's no better way to ensure that the life of a Legionnaire is to your liking. The demo contains the first 11 parts. Minimum
